A New Email Subscription Provider and a Mark Steel Podcast

 Dear Subscriber

If you are a blog email subscriber you will hopefully have received this post via follow.it as Feedburner is about to be moved into maintenance mode and email subscriptions will no longer work. This is all part of Google continuing to move away from letting you decide what you want from the interweb and expecting you to just passively receive what their algorithm thinks you need to see.

But then, as was the case years ago with Google Reader, it is not such a bad thing as there is better 3rd party alternatives that are free, for now at least.

The email should have a banner saying you can confirm your subscription, but you don't have to in order to continue to receive the emails. I presume that if you do confirm then you will create a follow.it account, but this is no bad thing - see below.

If you have come to this post via social media then you can subscribe to getting the words and wisdom of Mr Steel sent directly to your inbox daily using the widget on the left, but you can also create a follow.it account and subscribe anonymously to the content provider and receive instant email alerts to this feed or any other feed and also apply filters, along with various other ways to follow feeds.

Mark Steel Podcast!

Thanks to Mr Steel's intermittent facebook feed, I have been made aware of his new podcast series. He posted the Apple Podcast URL and my first thought was "how the f*ck to you follow that?" But it turns out to be quite easy and here is the feed URL: What The F*** Is Going On...? With Mark Steel

You can check out the first two episodes, which start off rather like a Read Aloud of one of his articles, but with added f*cks, but then he also has "chats" with a guest in the second half.

Future episodes should appear on this blog thanks to IFTTT

Also on facebook there is the Mark Steel Appreciation Society

It is a private group but entry requirements are not arduous.

Best Wishes
